Tantuo Temple The temple was built 1700 years ago and is large with many buildings, courtyards, and old, old trees. It is set in the middle of hills which close in on it. There are a lot of pine and bamboo. The bamboo was of the green stripe bamboo type, not often encountered. There were stands of it among the buildings. There were some monks about who were attending to the different pavilions. At the top pavilion we came upon a large group of people who were meditating, one or two of them in the lotus position. Tiles of the buildings were weathered to a gray color. The buildings seemed to be in good condition. This was a place the red guards did not damage.
